14 February 2024Ingrown toenails can arise from various factors, such as an injury to the nail, ill-fitting footwear, improper nail trimming, or thickened/mis-shapen nails, or can be a combination of these factors. Timely intervention typically resolves most cases easily; however, prolonged neglect may necessitate nail surgery as the only viable option.
While any toe can be impacted, it is typically the big toe that is affected. Ingrown toenails are a prevalent issue, particularly among teenagers and young adults, but they can also arise in infants and toddlers.
